Opuntia as we actually use it: the base of a gentle polyhydroxy-acid (PHA) exfoliant — not a '72-hour' hydrator.

About This Ingredient

Opuntia ficus-indica fruit extract — in our formulas it is the substrate of a water-kefir-derived polyhydroxy acid (PHA), at 1–2.5%.

The mechanism: PHAs are the gentler generation of exfoliant acids — larger molecules, slower surface action, suited to scalp and sensitive skin.

What it does not do: we make no 'heat-shock protein' claim and no '72-hour water retention' claim — those are supplier marketing, not receipts. Gentle surface exfoliation is the documented job.
