About This Ingredient

The beta-hydroxy acid of modern dermatology: oil-soluble, so it follows sebum into congested areas and loosens the bonds holding dead cells together.

The mechanism: keratolytic exfoliation of scalp build-up — defensible at any dose.

What it does not do: the US FDA recognises salicylic acid for dandruff control at 1.8–3% (OTC Monograph M032, 2021). Tara's shampoo ships it at 0.4% — below that gate — so we say “lifts build-up”, not “treats dandruff”. A label is not a dose, and we write to the dose.
